Dear Parents,

Please remind your child to bring their recorder for music. Next week, we have music on Monday and Thursday. Also, if you have not had a chance to pay for your child’s recorder please do so as soon as possible.

Please take the time to sign the permission slip and pay the fee for our upcoming field trip to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science on Tuesday, February 11th.  All students need a signed permission slip to attend. Please let the office know if the fee is a challenge for your family.  Thank you!

You can also let us know if you would like to be a chaperone for this trip via the link- we will need parent volunteers!  In order to chaperone, you must have completed a school background check. We would like to have at least 5 parents come with us. Parents who chaperone will need to send in a check or cash for their entrance to the museum- $7. Parents are not able to pay their portion online.

Our Valentine’s Day party is right around the corner. Our class party will be on Thursday, February 13th from 1:30-2:30. As always, parents are invited to attend the party. Please stay tuned for information from our room parents about our Valentine’s Day party.

If your child chooses to bring Valentine cards to school, they need to have one for each child in our class. We have 25 students in our class.  Valentines should be brought to school on February 13th.  Handmade cards are encouraged.  Here is a list of student names to help with this task.  Thank you for your continued support.

James, Jackson, Amelia, Hunter, Evan, Alex, Eli, Haylee Jo, Gavin, Sienna, Zane, Leora, Elena, Griffin, Eliza, Lily, Stella, Naomi, Haylee, Robert, Henry, Brenden, Karma, Clara, Ezekiel

Literacy:
Students are reading and writing informational texts.  They have read and written about paleontologists. Next week, students will read and write about the difficulties of living in Alaska in the winter.  Please talk to your child about the purpose of informational writing and share interesting facts that you learn through your own reading of informational texts.

Math:
We are finishing up with our Addition and Subtraction of Multi-digit Numbers unit.  Our chapter text will be next Thursday, February 6th. Please take some time to review your child’s nightly math homework with them.  This individual support can make a huge difference in building their understanding and confidence of the math concepts at hand. Thank you!

Science:
Our Metric Measurement and Matter unit is coming to a close.   We will begin a social studies unit about regions of the United States late next week.

Have a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Galt
