Friday, February 1st

Next week we have PE on Monday and Thursday.

Dear Parents,

Our parent/ teacher conferences are February 11th and 13th. An email about signing up was sent out by the office early this week.  Thank you to those of you who have signed up. If you have not had a chance to sign up yet, please do so.  I look forward to meeting with each of you.

We have scheduled our second field trip to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science for Thursday, February 28th. There is a permission slip in your child’s Friday folder.  I will definitely need parent volunteers, so please check your calendar and let me know if you can chaperone. You must have the background check clearance through the district for this school year to attend the trip. Please return the permission slip and fee as soon as possible. Thank you.

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner.  We will not have a class party on this day, but we will enjoy exchanging Valentines with classmates.  We will have a spring class party on Friday, March 22nd from 1:30 to 2:30.

If your child chooses to bring Valentine cards to school, they need to have one for each child in our class. Valentines should be brought to school on February 14th.  I will provide a container for them to collect their Valentines. Handmade cards are encouraged. Here is a list of student names to help with this task. Thank you for your continued support.

Math:
We are finishing up with our Addition and Subtraction of Multi-digit Numbers unit.  Our chapter text will be next Thursday, February 7th. Please take some time to review your child’s nightly math homework with them.  This individual support can make a huge difference in building their understanding of the math concepts at hand. Thank you!

Students completed their Metric Measurement and Matter unit assessment this week.  It will be in your child’s Friday folder next week.  We will begin a social studies unit about regions of the United States next week.
